WordPress 3.1, code name “Reinhardtâ€, is now live and can be updated from your dashboard. This version of WordPress has number of bug fixes and introduced some great features. I will mention here three stunning features. This version will offer more stability to the features introduced in WordPress 3.0 (Launched in June 210).
1. Internal Linking:
This is the most important feature introduced in WordPress 3.1. Since Internal Linking is an important part of SEO and site engagement both. In this feature, you are now able to search internal link to the post depending on the keywords. I have tried it and found some really good links. See the image below: The keyword used here is “wordpress”.
2. The Admin Bar:
This is similar to the bar in wordpress.com which contents some important and daily use link like “Add New post, comments” “Appearance” “Shortlink”.
By default, Admin bar will be displayed when a user is logged in to your blog. For multisite install the bar will be available to all users and visitors.
3. Post Format:
Post Format is a theme feature introduced with WordPress 3.1, which is a piece of meta information that can be used by a theme to customize its presentation of a post. This feature is not very essential until theme developer uses it dynamically and it will be an ongoing improvement for WordPress.
WordPress is now more secure and dynamic since about 180 developer have contributed and made more than 820 improvements. Beside the above 3 stunning features you will get some improvement in the Blue theme of the WordPress dashboard.
Better to experience: There is no incompatibility with plugin I found and no where seen also. You should update your blog and feel the reality. If you need more details about WP3.1 Visit the Codex Page of WordPress.org.
