Gmail is one of the best free email service and it does not need any introduction. In my opinion the best thing inside Gmail is the Lab. There are a lot of features and we can activate these by following some simple steps. But now we are going to discuss about Offline Feature.
I have seen a lot of people using Gmail for online and Thunderbird or Outlook as an offline client and a lot of people uses these offline client because their corporate mailbox is quite small in storage on the same time these mail servers supports POP/IMAP and SMTP and so they uses Outlook or Thunderbird.
It would be great if you will be able to store your mails on your mails on your desktop, also on a web server and you do not need to do anything except some simple initial setup. Here it is:
If your corporate mail supports POP or IMAP simply follow these simple steps to make your mails online backup and offline storage both at the same time.
Step 1: Signup for Gmail account OR if you have already Gmail Account Skip this step. If you are on Orkut or YouTube then you may add Gmail to your account instead of creating a fresh account.
Step 2: Login to your Gmail account and Click on the setting link at the upper right corner of your Gmail window.
Step 3: Setup your Gmail account for POP or IMAP access by following this link:
Step 4: This is the last step. Follow the link to Install Gmail Offline to your computer. Now, Gmail Offline is available for Google Chrome browser only. If you are using IE or Firefox then you have to install Chrome. If you uses dial-up connection then download Google Chrome offline installer.
You have completed all the steps and now you can reach mails directly from your Gmail and can store your mail on your computer and there is no need to go online to reach your mails after synchronization.
