Online VOIP service provider Skype has been sold to Microsoft. Skype is VOIP  giant  and  Microsoft  has bought it in about 8.5 billion dollars. Gooogle VOIP branded as Google Voice is grabbing  market  by keeping its call charges low and Free calls to USA and Canada. On the other side Skype is most popular brand in its category.

Skype was founded in 2003 and it has more than 660 million users. In 2005, eBay owned in about $2.6 Billion but in 2009 70% of the shares sold to  private  investors.

Microsoft is trying to capture the market share of mobile  communication. Earlier it was expected that Microsoft will  acquire  Skype in between 7 to 8 billion, But it is more than that Microsoft is going to pay to the current share holders.
