BSNL broadband plans rocks, but service sucks!

BSNL broadband plans are best because of many reasons. One of the reason is the coverage in pan India. BSNL is state-owned firm who offers almost all type of telecommunication services in India (excluding Delhi and Mumbai).

The telecom service provider is also the first broadband service provider of india. Here, I am mentioning my experience about their broadband services, including some feedback from my friends and colleagues.

BSNL Broadband plans:

Except some ISPs, BSNL is leader in ADSL broadband service. It also have very cheap plans like in just Rs. 299 (at 512 kbps) you can have Broadband connection. This which comes with 1GB free downloading + a landline connection. There is no monthly charge for the Landline Phone. You will have to pay only for the call you made and additional broadband usage.

Definitely, 1GB is not sufficient amount of data and you will look for more. They have plenty of Plans which will definitely suit you need.

BSNL’s Unlimited Broadband plans are most famous. They offers three types of unlimited plans.

1. BSNL Broadband Combo plans.

These plans offers no monthly rental to your telephone. These plans are suitable for those who don’t need a phone connection. (But for BSNL Broadband we must have a telephone). These plans also have truly unlimited combo plans.

2. BSNL Unlimited Broadband plans.

These plans will be best if you need both Broadband and Phone, I mean you wanted to use the phone to make a lot of calls at cheap rates. In these plans your phone may have any plan but there will be a monthly charge for the phone also.

3. BSNL Flexi Broadband plans.

(Newly introduced) These plans are a mixture of both Unlimited and Combo plans. These plans have some low call rates and high data usage. Users will get a number of free calls (per month) also.

There also some other BSNL plans like, Night Unlimited and Low usage plans, Zero rental or Prepaid and so on..

But If you will take a look on various plans then find that Non-Combo or Flexi plans are not so attractive. Because, The charges are same for Non-Combo and other plans (excluding flexi). In same price you will get two different Phone or broadband connection, one for Broadband and other for Calls.  Truly Unlimited plans!

BSNL broadband plans who offers unlimited downloading have no caps on it. It means in a few hundred rupees you can download unlimited data. Even from the lowest unlimited broadband plan which offers 256 kbps you can download 50GB per month practically after all disruptions.

About billing:

A few years ago the billing of BSNL connections were really shocking for its customers. But now the billing is very accurate. And if it comes to Broadband then I am sure  that you will never get wrong bills.

For extra precaution use dynamic lock feature to your phone and secure your Wi-Fi if you have such modem.

BSNL broadband service quality

Well, till now we were discussing about Plans and billing. Now what about service?

The service is very good until you face some problem with phone line. You will not be shocked to hear that BSNL service is not good. Yes, It’s all depend on your local employee and your relation with them. (it also includes brivary to local linesman).

The phone lines become dead or noisy often, Many days in a month. But yes, It all depends on your locale.

When it comes to Broadband generally linesman can’t help you a lot. They are expert in fixing phone lines. When we talk to SDE (Sub-Divisional Engineers), you will find them always busy! Then who will care you?

So, If you are looking for a BSNL Broadband Plans (or, you are going to get new connection) then Take care (!) of BSNL employee so they will take care of you. Well, this situation is not same everywhere.

Besides this, The effect of weather and ongoing local construction (mostly roads) is very high. And in this situation you will be disconnected from internet. Since, these problems will affect a number of connections.

After all the disruption in service and seeing all BSNL broadband plans I will give them somewhat between 6-7 points out of 10. If you will look about the future of BSNL, As a customer, I will say it’s good. The service of BSNL is becoming more and more good.

One more thing, If you are a State Govt. or Central Govt. or Public sector employee then you will get 20% discount on your overall billing.
